An update on PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita
As many of our fans know, PQube’s origins as a publisher are intimately connected with PlayStation platforms, going all the way back to the release of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus on the PlayStation 2! Our initial forays into the worlds of full digital and physical publishing started on the PSP and PS3, continued with multiple critically acclaimed releases on the PS4 and PS Vita, and endure to this day; with your support, we intend to keep going long into the future. Like many of our industry partners and fans, we are very disappointed that physical disc production is ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles, but our aim is to continue releasing games in all formats available to us for as long as we can.
As you might also be aware, PlayStation recently announced the forthcoming closure of the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita. The discontinuation is in relation to the stores within the respective consoles, as purchases on the web and mobile store for these platforms were disabled as of 19 October 2020. PlayStation Store on PS3 will close in select markets starting this year, followed by global closures for PS3 and PS Vita next year. In light of this, we are writing this note to let you know which PQube titles are affected. All of these titles exist in physical form, and the vast majority with the exception of a few are also available on other platforms not affected by this event, such as the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You will still be able to redownload and play previously purchased game titles, so if you’ve purchased some of these games already, thank you, and if you will buy any until closure, you will still be able to redownload them even after the stores go down and for the foreseeable future. Besides the information below, there will also be a table summarizing all affected titles and whether they include DLC or not, as well as alternative platforms.
Titles on the European PlayStation Store
Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault (PS3/PS Vita/PS TV). Physical editions are available on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. The PS4 version will continue to be available for purchase.
Akiba’s Beat (PS Vita/Not compatible with PS TV). Physical editions are available on PS4 and PS Vita. The PS4 version will continue to be available for purchase.
BlazBlue Calamity Trigger Portable (PSP/PS Vita/PS TV). Available physically on PSP and PS3. PS3 edition playable on PS Plus subscription service. Also available on Steam.
BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 (PSP/PS Vita/PS TV). Physical editions of the game on both PSP and Nintendo 3DS are available. BlazBlue Continuum Shift is also available on PS Plus subscription service.
BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend (PS Vita/PS TV). Available physically on PS Vita, PS3 and XBOX 360. PS3 edition is playable on PS Plus subscription. Also available on PC.
BlazBlue Chronophantasma Extend (PS3/PS Vita). Available physically on PS4, XBOX One, PS3 and PS Vita. The PS4 version of the game will continue to be available for purchase. Also available on PS Plus and Steam.
BlazBlue Centralfiction (PS3). Physical editions of the game are available on PS3, PS4 and as a Special Edition on the Nintendo Switch. The game will continue to be available for purchase on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space (PS Vita/PS TV). EDF! EDF! EDF! Available as a PS Vita physical edition, but otherwise unavailable on other platforms.
Gladiator Begins (PSP/PS Vita/PS TV). Available physically on PSP. Unfortunately Gladiator Begins is another title that’s not currently available on any other platform.
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (PSP/PS Vita/PS TV). Availably physically on PSP (and PS2, but that version never had a digital release!). The definitive version of the game, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, will continue to be available for purchase on Nintendo Switch and PC.
Guilty Gear Xrd-Revelator (PS3). Physical editions are available on both PS4 and PS3. PS4 edition also available on PS Plus. PS4 and PC versions will continue to be available.
UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe: Late[st] (PS3/PS Vita/Not compatible with PS TV). Physical edition available for PS3 and PS4. PS4 version will continue to be available for purchase. The definitive version of the game is also available on PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch as UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe: Late[cl-r].
Titles available on both American and European PlayStation Stores
Chaos;Child (PS Vita/PS TV). Released physically on both PS4 and PS Vita. The PS4 version will still be available for purchase. PC and Nintendo Switch versions are also available.
Gal*Gun Double Peace (PS Vita/Not compatible with PS TV). Physical editions are available for both PS4 and PS Vita. Ultimate Edition includes all DLC with the exception of Pheromone Z (only available in the US) and is only available digitally. PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch versions will continue to be available. The Nintendo Switch version includes DLC and costumes from the original Gal*Gun Double Peace already unlocked in game!
Muv Luv (PS Vita/PS TV). Physical PS Vita edition available as standalone or as part of the Muv Luv Trilogy. The game is also available on PC and in a Remastered form on Nintendo Switch.
Muv Luv Alternative (PS Vita/PS TV). Physical PS Vita edition available as standalone or as part of the Muv Luv Trilogy. The game is also available on PC and in a Remastered form on Nintendo Switch.
Punch Line (PS Vita/PS TV). Physical PS Vita and PS4 editions are available. The PS4 and PC versions of Punch Line are unaffected and will continue to be available.
Root Letter (PS Vita/PS TV). Available physically on both PS4 and PS Vita. PS4 and PC versions will continue to be available. An enhanced version, which includes a live-action version of the game is also available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC as Root Letter: Last Answer.
STEINS;GATE (PS3/PS Vita/PS TV). Available physically on PS Vita and PS3. Also available on PC and as a remastered version, STEINS;GATE ELITE, on both PC and Nintendo Switch.
STEINS;GATE 0 (PS Vita/PS TV). Physical edition available on both PS4 and PS Vita. The PS4 version will continue to be available alongside the Nintendo Switch version.
Valkyrie Drive -Bhikkhuni- (PS Vita/PS TV). Physical release on PS Vita. Bikini Party Edition which includes all released DLC except new characters Mirei Shikishima and Mamori Tokonome and DLC Coins available in digital form only. PC version will remain available.
